Chalk grassland
There is scope for habitat creation and linkage in several parts of the Bedfordshire chalk. We plan to link our three existing reserves at Sewell Cutting, Totternhoe Knolls, and the recently-acquired Totternhoe Quarry to create 150 hectares of chalk grassland. There is the possibility for further grassland re-creation adjoining Pegsdon Hills, and at the National Nature Reserves of Barton Hills and Knocking Hoe.
The chalk grassland of south Cambridgeshire is also a high priority. Here the Trust is working mainly via landowner advice and in partnership with local authorities through the Cambridge Green Belt Project.
