Heathlands

Opportunities exist to extend the heathland on the Greensand in Bedfordshire and west Cambridgeshire, on glacial sands in Northamptonshire, and the areas of ‘breckland’ in eastern Cambridgeshire. The initial focus will be on existing reserves at Gamlingay Cinques and Meadow; in the Harlestone area of Northamptonshire where extensions are dependent on potential planning gains linked to development; and near the Suffolk border at Kennett, also dependent on planning gain.
