How will data be used?

Suppliers of data are normally concerned to know how their data will (or will not) be used.

Permitted uses for data are discussed and agreed with data suppliers, but are usually along the following lines:
The BRMC will supply uninterpreted data for inclusion in documents required by the planning process.
The BRMC will supply uninterpreted data for use by bona fide enquirers, on the understanding that credit will be given to the source if the data in any publication or report. Limitations on the type and quantity of data released may be agreed.
The BRMC may agree to distribute copies of the supplied data to a list of named individuals and/or organizations. These are usually for wildlife or environmental organizations needing data to make informed decisions.

Before the BRMC releases data to anyone, the recipient must agree to the terms and conditions for the data release. This specifies their obligations and imposes restrictions on how they may use the data.

The BRMC may check the credentials of an enquirer and may withhold data if it believes that species or habitats may be harmed otherwise.
