Supplying Data to the BRMC

Ultimately the BRMC would like to be able to handle enquiries on any aspect of Bedfordshire and Luton biodiversity. Initially however, because our resources are limited, we are focussing on meeting the most pressing needs for data.

We are therefore currently concentrating on acquiring data about:

Species protected by legislation
Species that are rare or threatened
Habitats used by these species
Statutory and non-statutory wildlife sites (i.e. NNRs, SSSIs, LNRs, County Wildlife Sites, Roadside Nature Reserves)

We are already in contact with many of the organizations and key individuals that we know hold such information, but may not yet have tracked down or approached them all. If you hold data that we are currently seeking and haven't yet been approached by the BRMC, then please contact us and we'd be happy to talk with you.

We encourage all naturalists to submit records of their observations to the appropriate County Recorder. These are listed on the Bedfordshire Natural History Society website. We hope to obtain access to much of our data through the BNHS recorders, so by submitting records to the Society they should in turn become available to the BRMC.
