Priory Country Park Education Service

Get involved

Priory Country Park is open to the public at all times. Events, ranging from family events to specialist courses, are held at the reserve and community groups are encouraged to book a visit.

The different ways in which people can get involved at Priory Country Park are listed below. Further details of specific events can be found on our Events database. Alternatively, contact Randalls Farm on 01234 768542 or email randallsfarm[at] wildlifebcnp.org

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trust for children aged between 8 and 13 years who are interested in wildlife and the environment. For more information, please contact the Wildlife Watch officer on 01604 405285.

Youth and community group opportunities - Youth groups that visit may choose from the variety of topics such as games and getting involved in the management of the reserve. Community groups are offered a range of activities including guided walks, talks and activity-based sessions on wildlife and conservation.

Wildlife Training Workshops give people the opportunity to learn more about different aspects of local wildlife to enjoy and understand the countryside better.

Wildlife Trust Ecology Groups are teams of volunteers covering clusters of nature reserves with similar habitats. Their main activity is fieldwork throughout the year, which requires natural history skills such as species identification, to monitor species and habitats and the way they are managed.

School membership - The Wildlife Trust offers a special programme for schools who wish to support our work and learn more about helping wildlife. Please follow the link for more information.

Volunteering - Volunteers are needed at Priory Country Park to help manage the reserve, to carry out survey work and to be the eyes and ears of the Wildlife Trust staff. In addition, volunteers with an interest in children and wildlife can help with visits by school and youth groups. Volunteers do not need to be experts, as training will be given. However those wishing to work with children should be prepared to provide references and go through a Criminal Records Bureau check. There is also a range of other Volunteering opportunities people can get involved with. Please follow the link for more information.
