Brampton Wood - A Natural History
A new book about one of our finest woodland reserves is published
This superb account of the history, management and wildlife of our largest woodland reserve gives a real sense of place, and a wealth of detail. It summarises 20 years of patient fieldwork by local naturalists, illustrated with superb colour photographs. With comprehensive lists of all the wildlife - from birds and mammals, flowers, fungi, and butterflies to beetles, moths and mosses - it's one of the finest accounts of any nature reserve.
The book was compiled and edited by Tom Collins, Barry Dickerson, Peter Walker and Terry Wells, the latter three being Wildlife Trust voluntary wardens. It was publised by the Huntingdonshire Flora and Fauna Society (HFFS), which was founded in 1948 with the object of promoting the study, conservation and recording of wildlife.
Anyone with an interest in woods, wildlife or local history, or who enjoys walking in a place of beauty and tranquility will learn something from this book. To buy your copy (£20 incl. p&p) please contact Peter Walker on 01480 390191 or walkpeg@ntlworld.com Please make cheques payable to the HFFS.
