Rotarians strengthen wildlife links

Corporate members continue their support of The Wildlife Trust

The Wildlife Trust is delighted to announce that The Rotary Club of Northampton Becket has decided to continue its support for The Wildlife Trust again for another year.

The Rotary Club adopted the Wildlife Trust as one of its chosen charities last year with a successful and wide-reaching partnership including Bronze Corporate membership.

The Club’s support enabled 16 local schools to join as school members and have visits from expert Wildlife Trust staff. At the end of the year, the club provided a prize for a poster competition and presented it to winning pupil, Kiren Parkash, a pupil at Abington Vale Primary School.

The Rotary Club will continue its support of The Wildlife Trust this year as a Bronze corporate member, as well as covering the education team’s time to host six visits to Lings Environmental Education Centre from local young people coping with special needs and disadvantages.

It has been proven that connecting with nature not only brings physical benefits, but can greatly improve our emotional, mental and spiritual health too: "The natural world offers the potential for significant positive effect on individual and community psychological wellbeing”. English Nature report, Nature and Psychological Well-Being, 2003.

John Saynor, President of the Rotary Club, is pleased to support The Wildlife Trust with this new package of funding. He said, “The Wildlife Trust’s work with young people at Lings really complements my Club’s objectives this year. It is great to see nature being used to engage young people and bring tangible benefits to their lives.”

Rotarians will shortly be taken on a guided walk around a local nature reserve in Northampton, with the partnership being officially launched to the local media this autumn.
