Wildlife Trust community event in Northampton

Lings Tree Dressing on Sunday 2 December

Following the huge success of last years’ event, The Wildlife Trust is holding another Tree Dressing event at Lings Local Nature Reserve on Sunday 2 December from 2pm to 4pm.

A fantastic afternoon of winter wildlife activities for the whole family is planned including winter crafts and a fabulous winter Earthwalk, enabling you to see nature in a completely different way. You can also get involved in making willow lanterns, candles and tree cookies.

If you haven’t visited the nature reserve before, you’re in for a treat. The reserve is made up of a variety of habitats including scrub, ponds, woodland and acid grassland, and supports a wide range of wildlife including a variety of butterflies, wild plants and birds.

Thanks to funding from the Department of Communities and Local Government via the River Nene Regional Park, access and interpretation enhancements have been completed alongside habitat enhancement work. This has included new paths, green gym equipment, carved wooden sculptures and a magnification post. Heathland regeneration work is continuing to improve the overall structure of the woodland.

Lings Local Nature Reserve is an important component in the network of green spaces that the River Nene Regional Park is developing. It is situated within a residential area on the edge of the Eastern District of Northampton, making it a fantastic site for local people to visit. The event costs £2 per person or £5 per family. For further details please call Cheryl Roberts on 01604 405285.
