New signs point way to nature

Access to Cambridgeshire reserves has been given a vital boost

Six Wildlife Trust nature reserves across Cambridgeshire have been given brand new information signs thanks to just under £12,000 of new funding from the Landfill Communities Fund of Waste Recycling Group (WRG) administered and distributed by Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN). These signs extend a warm welcome to visitors and aim to increase their enjoyment by offering a wealth of information about the history, wildlife and management of each reserve.

The Wildlife Trust’s 'Access to Wildlife' project has placed signs at Doghouse Grove near Ely, Five Arches Pit and Ramsey Heights near Ramsey, Hardwick Wood and Skaters’ Meadow near Cambridge, and Hemingford Meadow near Huntingdon. Visitors will benefit from the signs by being able to learn about the landscape and history of the reserves, where the pathways are and what they can expect to see as they walk. From first-timers to more regular visitors, they will help everyone to make the most of their visit.

Sarah Gosling, WREN project manager for Cambridgeshire said "WREN recognises the local importance that nature reserves have, and by our donation of Gift Aid, offers the Wildlife Trust the opportunity to make small, but necessary improvements to a number of sites."

Information on each of these reserves has also been included in our colour nature reserves guide - see Books for sale - as well in the Visit a reserve section.
