Green garage supports wildlife

Local Northampton business builds bond with Trust

IN ’n’ OUT is supporting The Wildlife Trust through a comprehensive package of support which includes Corporate Membership, donating to a biodiversity project and adopting a Local Nature Reserve.

IN 'n' OUT is the UK's first chain of drive-through express servicing, MOT and valet centres. Customers can simply turn up at the centres without an appointment for an MOT or car servicing in under 30 minutes. Of the 300 IN 'n' OUT centres planned nationwide over the next five years, the first opened in Northampton on the Nene Valley Business Park in 2006.

Last year the Wildlife Trust was approached for comment during the planning application for first centre. The charity advised the planting of native species onsite to benefit the native wildlife. IN 'n' OUT’s proactive response to the recommendations reflected a conscientious approach to environmental issues, which included the installation of a closed systems for oil collection and recycling.

The company went on to give £700 towards the Trust’s Nene Valley Project, to improve four Northampton nature reserves, funded by Biffaward. This scheme requires The Wildlife Trust to find 10% of the grant from a third party. IN 'n' OUT’s donation therefore released 10 times its value to the Wildlife Trust. Company staff will be invited to the celebration event when the project finishes next May to see first hand how the money has improved the reserves.

IN 'n' OUT also donated a further £1,000 to adopt Barnes Meadow Local Nature Reserve, which is within walking distance from the centre along the Nene Way footpath. This covers the ongoing maintenance and repairs, such as mowing, fence repairs and path clearance. The Trust’s ecological experts will be taking staff on a guided walk to learn about the importance of this beautiful River Nene wetland.

Finally, IN 'n' OUT has cemented its relationship with The Wildlife Trust by joining its Corporate Membership scheme and remains committed to working with the Trust to benefit local wildlife in the Nene Valley. Customers can see the Wildlife Trust Certificate on display in the Nene Valley Business Park centre.

IN 'n' OUT’s CEO and founder, Lee Stonehouse, said, We are committed to being a good neighbour in every sense of the phrase, and as members of the community we care about its wellbeing and will continue to actively participate in its enhancement”.
