Education centre undergoes a face lift

Generous funding from GrantScape makes it happen

Randalls Farm Environmental Education Centre in Bedfordshire has seen some significant improvements over the past few months thanks to generous funding from GrantScape.

A new interpretation board has been placed at the entrance, welcoming visitors to the site, and displaying a map of the farm and the route around it. This can be be both felt as well as seen, providing sensory information on the topography of land for people with visual impairments.

The pond has been reprofiled to reduce its surface area, and to increase the depth to minimise the amount of water lost during drier periods. The new bird hide is also now in place, offering opportunities for visitors to sit and reflect, and to view the wildlife in and around the pond in peace and tranquility.

Further access improvements, such as the re-surfacing of paths around the pond, will be completed in the spring to improve wheel-chair access.

The Wildlife Trust are immensely grateful to GrantScape, an environmental grant-making charity, for their continued support. Improvements to the site will benefit both people and wildlife for years to come.
