'Really Wild Days Out' for children
Over 3,000 Bedfordshire children will now be able to take part in outdoor activities to learn about the natural world thanks to a fantastic grant.
The Wildlife Trust received the grant of £31,000 from The Bedford Charity as part of a three year project to welcome pupils to Randalls Farm Environmental Education Centre, south of Bedford.
Lucy Bardner of the Bedford Charity said, “All children deserve the chance to discover the fascinating workings of the natural world in an outdoor setting. We’re delighted to help The Wildlife Trust as they take that opportunity to schools across the borough”.
Really Wild Days Out are tailored to meet the children’s specific requirements. Children will take part in adventure play and learn new skills in the natural environment. Activities include ‘Wetland Safaris’ and ‘Minibeast Magic’, all covering the National Curriculum.
The centre has provided unique environmental learning since 1994. It has diverse habitats, such as ponds, woods and grasslands, and excellent teaching facilities, including pond dipping platforms and bird hides.
The Wildlife Trust promotes conservation by delivering inspiring experiences for everyone from nursery age to university level. It delivers a range of Outdoor Learning at its six environmental education centres across the three counties. Education outside the classroom encourages an active lifestyle, enriches learning experiences and encourages volunteering. For more information, please see visit our Education Centres.
