Wild Play Adventure Day draws out the crowds!
A recent Wildlife Trust Wild Play Adventure day, run as part of Peterborough Green Festival and Breathing Place’s Weekend, attracted over 200 people!
The Wildlife Trust day, held on 6th June, formed part of the Trust’s Peterborough Wild Play Project which invites the children & young people of Peterborough to come and play, discover and learn on some of our reserves.
Wild adventures with a campfire, tepee building, pond dipping, natural crafts, wild games and adventure trail proved very popular with local children and their families.
There was also an opportunity to find out more about Wildlife Watch to further encourage young people to explore nature and help protect wildlife.
Wild Play Officer, Becky Naman, said “We were thrilled with the number of people who attended, and everyone enjoyed the day. We were also very pleased with the interest shown in a local Watch Group for Eye.”
Funded by BIG Lottery through Peterborough City Council the Wildlife Trust is hosting Wild Play events around Peterborough’s nature reserves and green spaces to get children and young people outside and enjoying wildlife. These informal, fun events are host to activities such as adventure play, shelter building, orienteering, survival skills, storytelling, art and games.
The next big event is on Monday 3rd August at Central Park, Peterborough, between 11am and 3pm.
