Celebrate trees with the Wildlife Trust!

The only trees we tend to think about in December are of the Christmas variety- decorated in twinkling lights, baubles and tinsel. But how about joining your local Wildlife Trust and people all over the country to celebrate all trees.

Tree dressing is based on old customs from all over the world where people come together to decorate trees in natural and recycled products to celebrate their value and importance.

We are holding three community events over the first weekend in December. It’s your chance to wrap up warm, don the wellies and take a woodland walk as well as taking part in some winter crafts.

Saturday 5th December

Great Fen Tree Dressing at Ramsey Heights Countryside Classroom, 2pm - 4.30pm

Follow the Winter Tree trail, make a Christmas present for the birdsand dress our trees with lanterns and decorations made from natural and recycled materials. Take your creations away at the end of the day to decorate your home. Please let us know in advance if you have any special access or dietary requirements. Suggested donation: £2.50 per person, £6 per family including refreshments.

Please phone 07595 090778 or email helen.moore@wildlifebcnp.org for more information.

Sunday 6th December

Lings Local Nature reserve, Northampton,2pm - 4pm

Join us for a winter woodland walk and make beeswax candles and bird feeders to take home. Help dress our trees and as the light fades over the wood create your own ‘glow bug’. Suggested donation: £2 per person, £5 per family.

About the Trust:

Bringing people together to take action for wildlife is the Trust’s mission. We manage 129 nature reserves - all of them free to visit – and 95% of the population live within five miles of one of our reserves. We are working to make these wildlife havens bigger, better and more joined-up – vital to help wildlife to adapt to a changing climate. By gathering valuable information about wildlife and working with other landowners the Trust also monitors and safeguards wildlife beyond the boundary of its reserves.
