A make-over for Lings Local Nature Reserve
Events are planned in response to community's wildlife wishes
More family events, nature trails and the removal of the litter were advocated for Lings by local residents at a Funday on Saturday 16 September.
Armed with a large map of the reserve and lots of post-it notes, the Wildlife Trust began gathering the community’s thoughts and ideas about Lings at the Lodge Farm Summer Funday. Even the Mayor added his voice, promoting the woodland as a great habitat for his beloved hedgehogs.
Lings Local Nature Reserve has been identified as a vital component of the area’s green infrastructure, and as such has been targeted for improvements to access and safety, habitats and biodiversity and increased opportunities for community enjoyment, such as more nature trails.
In light of these recommendations, a series of events are planned for the coming months:
Wednesday 8 November 5.30pm - 7.30pm
Lings is getting a makeover!
Members and local residents are invited to join us for a free buffet at Lings. We are keen to hear your views and ideas about forthcoming improvements to the reserve so please come along and share your thoughts with us.
Sunday 3rd December 2pm - 4pm
Bring the family to decorate Lings’ majestic trees!
Try your hand at winter crafts whilst listening to live acoustic music in the woodland at this wonderful festive event.
Friday 8th December at 6pm
Have your say about green issues!
The response to the energy review discussion evening with Sally Keeble MP in August was overwhelming. As a result, we would like to provide you with the opportunity to discuss wider environmental issues further at this inaugural meeting of a regular Northants Green Forum.
