Celebrate spring with the Wildlife Trust

Cambridgeshire

Meet Jenny Mackay, the Wildlife Trust Cambourne Officer, on Thursday 8 April. From 2-4pm there will be the annual Cambourne Easter Egg Hunt, which is held in partnership with the Cambourne Children Centre, Sunflower Nursery and the Wildlife Trust. Starting from the library the hunt will be in Cambourne including on Wildlife Trust land.

Northamptonshire

On Thursday 8 April, children can take part in an exciting code breaker event at Lings Local Nature Reserve in Northampton. It is a wildlife trail with a difference, encouraging children to join in with fun-filled spring-themed wildlife activities at different points along the way in order to gain clues to crack the code to reveal the hidden whereabouts of The Wildlife Trust badger! The event is a drop-in session from 10am – 2pm and the trail starts at the Lings education centre. Activities will include bug hunting, wildlife crown making and shelter building. There is a suggested donation of £2 per person or £5 per family

On Thursday 15 April, children can search for signs of spring with Wildlife Trust staff at their Summer Leys Nature Reserve, just to the west of Wellingborough. Families will be able to take part in pond dipping to discover what creatures live under the water, search for bugs and mini-beasts that are hiding in the meadow, and spot what birds make their home at this wonderful wetland reserve. There will also be natural arts and crafts to make and do. The event runs from 10.30am – 12.30 pm. There is a suggested donation of £2 per person or £5 per family

Great Fen

Put those winter blues behind you and discover the first signs of spring at a special family event with the Great Fen team at the Wildlife Trust’s Ramsey Heights Countryside Classroom on Wednesday 14 April. The drop in event runs from 1.30-4pm. There is a suggested donation of £2.50 per person £6 per family to cover costs including refreshments and materials.
