Wild Adventure Day – Southey Wood

Have you ever built your own den in the woods, hunted for insects or made a natural sculpture?

If not, then come along to the Wildlife Trust’s special Wild Adventure Day on Saturday 17th July 2010 at Southey Wood between 1-3pm.

This event is the perfect way for you and your family to explore the ancient woodlands at Southey Wood and find out about Greenwatch, a wildlife based group for 12 – 18 year olds.

Wild Play Officer, Fay Rumball, said, “There have been great successes with Greenwatch groups across the county and we are now looking to set up one in Peterborough. Meeting once a month for a few hours this young people’s led group could be involved in conservation work, surveys, wildlife photography and much more. This event is the perfect way of doing some Greenwatch style activities and finding out more about the group”.

Southey Wood is located on the minor road between Upton and Ufford, 7 miles west of Peterborough.

The event and all the activities are free, and designed for young people. However, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. There will be an opportunity at this event to make a donation to defray the costs of the events and support the work of the Wildlife Trust locally.

This event is part of the Wild Play project that invites the children & young people of Peterborough to come and play!  Thanks to BIG Lottery funding through Peterborough City Council the Wildlife Trust will be hosting Wild Play events around Peterborough’s nature reserves and green spaces to get children & young people outside and enjoying wildlife.   These informal, fun events will be host to activities such as adventure play, shelter building, orienteering, survival skills, storytelling, art and games.

For more information about this event and the Wild Play project contact Fay Rumball on 01733 294543 or fay.rumball@wildlifebcnp.org.
