A Cambridgeshire community project needs your company's help

The Wildlife Trust needs to raise £10,000 for a community project

The Wildlife Trust is seeking the help of local businesses to secure a grant offer of £10,000 for a major new community project called the Cambourne Wild Discovery Project, based near to Cambridge and St Neots.

The Project will involve making big improvements to the 150 acre nature reserve in Cambourne to benefit people and wildlife from across the local area. It will provide local people with more opportunities to learn about, enjoy and explore the huge wildlife area, which includes habitats such as woodland, meadows and lakes.

A key aspect of the project is the creation of a new Cambourne Wild Discovery Trail, designed with the help of communities and local school children. The many kilometres of footpaths, cycleways and bridleways will be displayed on a large-scale map in the nature reserve and in a new leaflet. The Cambourne Wild Discovery Project will leave a legacy to be enjoyed by thousands of people in the local area for years to come.

We need your help

In order to release the £10,000 grant from Landfill Tax Funds, the Wildlife Trust needs to raise another £10,000 with the help of local businesses. Local businesses that have already pledged their support include Malcolms estate agents, Cambourne (£500) and Cambridge Water Company (£1,000).

Brett Fleming Jones, commercial director said, “The Cambridge Water Company is very pleased to support The Wildlife Trust. As a local company, we are committed to our communities and it is our aim to work towards a sustainable future. This project provides a great example of how we can work together to benefit the environment and the community as a whole.”

Malcolm Thomas, Director of Malcolms estate agents said, “We believe strongly in supporting individuals, families and communities where we work. This project will provide a fantastic local resource to benefit people from across our area for many years to come. We are proud that we can help to make it happen".

Cambridge Water Company and Malcolms estate agents will have their name and logo displayed on signs for the new Cambourne Wild Discovery Trail to recognise their support. If you work for a business who you think might be able to make a contribution, large or small, the Wildlife Trust would love to hear from you.
