Eating cheese helps wildlife!
The Cambridge Cheese Company raises money for a local reserve
The Wildlife Trust thanked The Cambridge Cheese Company and their customers for fundraising a fantastic £1000 to support Beechwoods Nature Reserve in Cambridge.
Beechwoods is a 24 acres wood of beautiful beeches sitting on a ridge south of Cambridge. In the spring you can see delicate wild orchids called white helleborines, which thrive there. To the west of the old wood of beech, local people planted a new area of broadleaved trees in 1992. The Wildlife Trust is carrying out work to help this area mature and provide a range of habitats to complement the old beech wood, which includes work to encourage wildflowers along the paths.
David Wilshin of The Cambridge Cheese Company said, “We’re really happy that we’ve been able to help The Wildlife Trust make such a positive impact in the local area. Beechwoods is a wonderful nature reserve and is really popular with local people. We’re really glad that our customers’ generosity is helping to ensure that it stays here for everyone to enjoy.”
The Cambridge Cheese Company is well known for providing an extraordinary selection of cheese and speciality foods, including delicious olives, meats and local produce in their shop in All Saints Passage, Cambridge city centre. Through a variety of fundraising measures, including charging 20p for every new plastic bag used in the shop, The Cambridge Cheese Company and their customers have raised a total to date of over £3500 to support The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Peterborough.
The Wildlife Trust works with many companies, both large and small across Cambridgeshire. If you would like further information about how you or your company can get involved, please call Emma on 01954 713555.
